2011-10-10 NEW • Distribution Release: Superb Mini Server 1.6.2
Superb Mini Server An updated build of Superb Mini Server (SMS), a Slackware-based distribution for servers, was released earlier today: "Superb Mini Server version 1.6.2 released (Linux kernel 2.6.39.3). SMS 1.6.2 brings updates, security patches and the latest stable packages, such as httpd 2.2.21, PHP 5.3.8, Perl 5.14.2, BIND 9.8.1, Postfix 2.8.5, ClamAV 0.97.2, Dovecot 2.0.15, MailScanner 4.84.3 and, last but not least, Samba 3.6.0 with SMB2 support. Samba's 'Security = share' is deprecated and will not work with SMB2, although it is set in smb.conf, but it's enough to get you started - look at SMS wiki on how to switch to 'Security = User'. Also 'client ntlmv2 auth yes' is set by default. Dovecot needs your attention, since many deprecated options have been removed. SMS 1.6.2 features smbldap-tools, a set of Perl scripts designed to manage user and group accounts stored in an LDAP directory, making Samba and OpenLDAP configuration easier. See the full release announcement additional notes http://sms.it-ccs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2178 and brief changelog.

2012-04-10 Distribution Release: Superb Mini Server 1.6.5
Superb Mini Server An updated version of Superb Mini Server (SMS), a Slackware-based distribution for servers, was made available earlier today: "Superb Mini Server version 1.6.5 released (Linux kernel 3.2.14). This minor release brings along Linux kernel 3.2.14, glibc 2.15 and GCC 4.7.0, with many updated server packages, such as Postfix 2.9.1, BIND 9.9.0, Dovecot 2.1.4, ClamAV 0.97.4, OpenLDAP 2.4.30, MySQL 5.1.62 and OpenSSL 0.9.8u. To retain stability, compatibility and a fully working web server, the new Apache HTTPD server 2.4.1 and PHP 5.4.0 were left out from the stable tree since 2.4 API along with PHP 5.4.0 will bring nothing but problems to most web applications. Asterisk add-on package are removed, since they are now included in the new Asterisk 1.8.x package." 2012-06-19 Distribution Release: Superb Mini Server 1.6.6
Superb Mini Server Superb Mini Server (SMS) 1.6.6, a new version of the project's Slackware-based distribution for servers, has been released: "Superb Mini Server version 1.6.6 released (Linux kernel 3.2.20). It's that time again, we have a new kernel, a lot of upgrades, security fixes and some new features. For our default web server we keep Apache HTTPD 2.2.22 and PHP 5.3.14, once again, to maintain stability and compatibility. New PHP 5.4.4 and HTTPD 2.4.2 packages are available though, under testing in Extra if someone wants to use them. MySQL has been upgraded to the 5.5.x branch so it needs your attention. If you are upgrading, be sure to backup your /var/lib/mysql folder containing your MySQL databases and restore it after and run mysql_upgrade. Perl has also been upgraded to 5.16, so if you have Perl modules installed by yourself, I would recommend that you remove them and install them again." See the release announcement http://sms.it-ccs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2178 for more warnings and recommendations.
